Dale and I went to Kansas City this weekend to see the White Sox play the Royals. First stop after checking into the Intercontinental on the Plaza was wine and appetizers at a restaurant called Brio, where we sat outside as a storm blew right past us.
Our dinner -- ravioli Caprese, mushroom ravioli and shrimp and eggplant in marinara.
Our hotel is about two blocks from the plaza. Our room had this great view of the Plaza...
... and this view of the hotel pool.
But alas, our first night at the ballpark was rained out.
We wear soaked running from the parking lot to the stadium. As you can imagine, Dale was heartbroken.
We retreated to our hotel room and drank too much red wine with our friends, Jim and Deb.
The next morning we all went to an offbeat but great little restaurant called Succotash, recommended by my friend Denise.
Inside the restaurant.
We spent the day zipping around KC in Jim's Volvo convertible, with a two-hour stop at the World War I museum, which was amazing. Then Saturday night we were finally able to see a game. Unfortunately, the Sox lost this game but won the second of the double-header. Kansas City is a great town and we can't wait to go back this fall.
